1) Hide Drives Using Registry Editor:-
Windows registry is the best way to hide any drive in windows. It is a hierarchical database that is used to store almost all information and setting about the computer configuration.
Editing your windows registry may be risky so keep in mind that registry is vital to the operating system and changing it can be dangerous if you accidentally make a mistake as any misuse may cause serious effects to your windows. So I suggest you to take backup of your system by creating a restore point or by creating a system image using Backup and Restore tool.
Follow the steps given below to hide drives using Registry Editor:-
Step 1) Open the registry editor. To open the registry editor go to windows start button and type “regedit” on it and press enter. You can also press Window+R and type regedit and then press enter. Its your choice.
Step 2) Then navigate to:-
Now right click on the Explorer, Select New and click on DWORD (32 bit) value. After you click DWORD (32 bit) value, You would see a value with a default name. Rename that value as NoDrives and press enter.
Step 3) Now double click the NoDrives named value and select Decimal in the Base option (By default it is Hexadecimal). At the left side of Base option you would see Value Data option in which you have to provide a decimal number that represents the drive letter that you want to hide.
Use the decimal numbers provided below to hide the drive:-
A:- 1, B:- 2, C:- 4, D:- 8, E:- 16, F:- 32, G:- 64, H:- 128, I:- 256, J:- 512, K:- 1024, L:- 2048, M:- 4096, N:- 8192, O:- 16384, P:- 32768, Q:- 65536, R:- 131072, S:- 262144, T:- 524288, U:- 1048576, V:- 2097152, W:- 4194304, X:- 8388608, Y:- 16777216, Z:- 33554432, ALL:- 67108863
You can also see the Hexadecimal Number for each Decimal Number that you write in Value Data option i.e. while you change the Decimal Number to the Hexadecimal then at the left side in the Value Data option you would be able to see the Hexadecimal Number for each drive letter
For eg:- 1) If you want to hide Drive F: then you have to use the decimal number 32 as shown above.
2) If you want to hide multiple drives together then you have to add the decimal numbers i.e. if you want to hide Drive E: and Drive F: together at the same time then you have to add 16+32 i.e you need to write 48 in the Value Data option.
3) If you want to hide triple drives together then you have to add the decimal numbers i.e. if you want to hide Drive D:, Drive E: and Drive F: together at the same time then you have to add 8+16+32 i.e you need to write 56 in the Value Data option.
Here I am hiding three drives together as you can see in the pics given below.
